Preview of Chapter 16- Your Support System
So far there has been a lot of talk about what you can do to help your situation and there have been many tools, tips and strategies for you to apply, as you move into your next chapter.
The thing is, you can’t do this alone.
You will need to build your support system around you, one that will cheer you on.
When you went through your unexpected change, there were people who stuck by you and ones that you thought would, didn’t.
Who was there for you the most during your unexpected change?

When facing a Career Crisis, it is important to be very picky with who you talk to about your next chapter and the timing.
When you first start making changes, people around you will notice, you will hold yourself differently, and they will ask what are you doing differently?
Give them enough information, in the beginning, to please their inquisitive minds, yet don’t give away too much as their fears and opinions can holt your progression.
Have you had this happen before?
When you told someone close to you about something you were planning to do, they shot you down with negativity and reasons why not to do it.
This is their opinion and fears being spewed out upon you.
You don’t need this.
Did someone else's fear or opinion stop you from pursuing a plan in the past?
The types of people you have around you, will be very important.
When I left my job as a teacher, I had to stay very hopeful, positive and confident.
I knew this was the right move for me and only spoke about the transition to a small handful of people.
These people were the ones who listened without judgement, were empathetic, caring, there when I needed them and gave me the space to grow.
I found my little support system, by testing the waters over the past few years and getting to know myself.
The more you know yourself, the more you understand the support you need.
